I am in Maui for the new year!. Mike loves it when I do stuff like this. The internet allows for such flexibility!

Frosty Car!

I left the house this AM with frost on my car, the lawn, and my house. It was very chilly back home in San Bernardino County. The temp was right at freezing. We left the house, got on the freeway (very quiet on Xmas morning) and made our way to the airport. Parking was rough. It took 40 minutes to find a place. Finally on a shuttle to the terminal. The rest was normal at LAX.

We got on our flight, Maui bound. A crazy thing happened. Everyone on the plane was also going to Maui! Imagine that. :-) Four and a half hours later we landed in Maui. Get the rental jeep, drive over to Wailea and get out room. Heck we had time to go swimming before dinner!

Large male Maui Anolis

At the pool we used the water slides, played, relaxed... until... then I found it. A green anole. Anolis carolinensis ssp. I remember reading that the Hawaiian green anoles were a Cuban ssp and not a USA subspecies. The animal does have a dark eyepatch and very different dark markings than we are all used to seeing in green Anolis carolinensis from the states. Very large animal. Probably 20% bigger than 'normals'. If anyone can help ID this specimen to subspecies email us and we'll correct the site. Thanks!

Another shot of the same male.

Well that is it for now. If I get images of other animals I will post. Happy New year to everyone. Call Mike (909)447-5103 and tell him you saw this post this post!

We are ending the year on a strong note. This is the best year ever for Amazon Reptile Center. New customers all over the USA have come on board. Many, many established reptile lovers keep coming back for more. We have had many outstaning animals come thru the store this year. Mexican Lined Pines (Pituophis lineaticolis) were perhaps the crown jewel for the year. We had the first ever bred and/or sold in the USA.

First ever USA bred Pituophis lineaticollis!!

On top of that we are exporting animals to reptile distributors almost weekly.

I will be out of the office from 12/25/04 - 1/1/05. I will be in Maui snorkling with my daughter Sarah. I cannot wait to sleep late, eat pineapple and shaved ices. We really are looking forward to what should be the world's best sushi. My wife Shelley and I are sushi fiends! I hear Hawaiians take New Years very seriously. I should be able to buy (at Walmart of all places) all of the fancy fireworks we cannot get here in California. I am not a pyro but fireworks are sooo fun! Cannot wait.

Mike will be in the shop holding down the fort. Shipping will be held off until after the New Year (weather permitting) but Mike will be glad to take orders and answer your questions.

CB 11/15 - 11/21/04!!

We just took delivery of some very nice baby leopard tortoises. Check out the image. Click on the TURTLES link above to see more about them. Also, we need to BUY baby African spurred tortoises. Please email us if you have any.

We need to buy baby sulcata!

All of us Amazonians want to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have supported us over the years. We could not be here without you. Thanks for your kindness and generosity over the last five + years. Happy Holidays. Have a happy and prosperous new year. Please stay safe! Let someone else drive if ya need to.
